Sta. Vicenta María López Vicuña, the first saint of Navarre, will have a movie.
Pablo Moreno has begun shooting the film La Sirvienta (The Maid) , which stars St. Vincent Mary, foundress of the Religious of Mary Immaculate. On Wednesday and Thursday, May 5 and 6, 2021, the first editing sequences of the film were shot in Cascante (Navarra).
Eight extras joined the filming, including seven young women from the village.
The director and his photography team, together with the production manager and the religious advisor, and the leading actress, Cristina González del Valle, were in this Navarrese town on May 5 and 6 to begin the shooting adventure.
Sequences were filmed in Vicenta María’s hometown in the Temple of Our Lady of the Rosemary, in the vicinity and in the parish church where the Christ of the column is located, before which Vicenta María prayed on so many occasions.
Visit to the birthplace
On the evening of the 5th, a visit to the house where Vienta Maria was born and to the museum, where family memorabilia and Vicenta Maria’s clothes and dresses, among other things, are kept, was very important. It was a matter of immersion in situ, an important theme for the protagonist, who has already been getting into character with meetings with the Sisters of Mary Immaculate in recent days.
Vicenta María was born on March 22, 1847, in Cascante, a small town on the banks of Navarre in the merindad of Tudela, in a Christian and well-to-do family of the time. He died on December 26, 1899, at the age of 43.
