– La Sirvienta” tells the true story of Vicenta María López, a revolutionary woman who helped to reverse the unjust social situation that many women lived in the 19th century and which is not far from today’s reality.

Madrid, February 16, 2023 – Pope Francis received on Wednesday, February 15, a copy of the “LA SIRVIENTA”.
“LA SIRVIENTA”
the new feature film that tells the story of Vicenta Maria Lopez, a woman dedicated to helping, educating and promoting dignified work for women.
The film, directed by Pablo Moreno and produced by Stellarum Films in association with the Religious of Mary Immaculate, will hit theaters in Spain on March 24, as part of the month-long celebration of International Women’s Day, distributed domestically by PROYECFILM and internationally by Bosco Films.
At the conclusion of the Wednesday General Audience in the Paul VI Hall at the Vatican, the Spanish actress Cristina González del Valle, who plays Vicenta María, the holy foundress of the Religious of Mary Immaculate, presented him with a copy of
“LA SIRVIENTA”
to the Holy Father and told him that “with great affection we give you the first copy of the film, and receive a hug from the whole team and especially from the director Pablo Moreno and the Religious of Mary Immaculate”.

INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE IN ROME
The legendary IL FARNESE movie theater (where Cinema Paradiso was premiered) became the setting for the INTERNATIONAL PREMIER of “The Handmaid’s Maid”.

The presentation was attended by Pablo Moreno, director of the film; the Superior General of the Religious of Mary Immaculate, Daría Fernández Ramos and the Spanish actress, Cristina González del Valle who plays the role of St. Vicenta María. It was also attended by nearly 200 guests, including journalists.

was filmed in May and June in Ciudad Rodrigo (Salamanca), Madrid and Cascante (Navarra), where he was born and spent his childhood. Supporting actors include Assumpta Serna (“Red de Libertad”, “Borgia”, “Aquí no hay quien viva”, “Trash”, “Enrique VIII”), Elena Furiase (“Rosalinda”, “Cuéntame”, “Un dios prohibido”), Antonio Reyes (“El Ministerio del Tiempo”, “Gran Hotel”).
“What is interesting about Vicenta María is her work, dedicating herself body and soul to the promotion of women in the 19th century, when women were considered little more than a zero to the left. She trained thousands of girls and helped them to find viable paths for their emancipation and their incorporation into the different labor markets.” Moreno affirms.

SYNOPSIS
Lera, a domestic service worker, is accused of a crime. In the dungeon of a Civil Guard barracks he meets Mihaela and Julia, two prostitutes with whom he shares the story that saved his life. The story of Vicenta María López Vicuña, founder of the Religious Sisters of Mary Immaculate, who for more than 150 years have been dedicated to the promotion of women who left their villages to carve out a better future in domestic service in the capital.
